Exciting times for mobile. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony is looking to further compete with Apple by developing a new line of handheld products, including a smart phone capable of downloading and playing video games.
Sony is also developing a portable device which shares characteristics with netbooks, electronic-book readers and handheld game machines. The device is designed to compete against multifunction products such as Apple’s coming iPad tablet.
Apparently ready for launch this year, both products will reportedly work with Sony’s new online media platform which is due to launch later this month in the US.
